If you’d like a taste of what I call my ‘metric’ for live music performance, you could do worse than the album of the same name, a single long-form piece on Earth Mantra. Because it’s live and unedited, metric has some rough spots, but it holds up well with repeated listens.

Way over on the more drifty calm ambient side of things is an album utterly unlike anything I’ve done before or since, also available free on Earth Mantra. Based on an obscure scene from an obscure Japanese sci-fi film, eocene is an experiment in timbrally simple drone ambience that has gotten some really great reviews. I love it because it represents what can happen when my studio, my life circumstances, and my desire for new beauty all come together perfectly—what I called “a rare moment of real peace” in my exciting, noisy life.
